The 85 Broads Boston University Chapter presents its annual Spring Conference. This year the theme is "Confessions of an Entrepreneur," where various CEO's and founders share their obstacles and victories in starting their businesses and start-ups!
This year's conference is held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the Boston University School of Law. This is an all-day event from 9AM - 5PM; breakfast and lunch are provided through Catering on the Charles! Tickets are only $10 if you register through eventbrite, and $15 at the door. Dress code is business casual.
We will be featuring about 30 speakers in total who are CEO's, CFO's, founders, and presidents of various companies!
Start building your professional network now! Attendees will be able to network with each speaker after each break-out session; many of these speakers will be offering (in addition to great advice and perspectives) internships/jobs!
Additionally, there will be one-on-one resume workshop sessions throughout the day provided by Caroline Chiang and Diane Riemer, expert career counselors at the Boston University School of Management Feld Career Center. Sign-ups are in the morning, so please bring your resume if you would like great resume-building advice/critiques!
We are extending our invitation to not only Boston University students, but also students within the Greater Boston area - students attending Northeastern, Harvard, MIT, Simmons, Tufts, Bentley, Babson and more. This is also a great opportunity to meet other students from different schools and build your collegiate network!
**Although 85 Broads is a women's network, we are of course open to having male attendees!**

Morning Keynote: Karen (Kari) Firestone (President/Co-founder of Aureus Asset Management)
Topic: Kari will be speaking on how to balance work and life, the difference between men and women in business, working for people vs. having people work for her, and the qualities needed to succeed in financial services.
Afternoon Keynote: Bonnie Marcus(Certified Career Coach, Professional Speaker, Self-promotion Expert)
Topic: "Step Up and Own Your Success" : Bonnie will be speaking about the self-promotion of women in the workplace, how to develop and grow your personal brand, and how to break societal barriers for women promoting themeselves in the corporate world.
Ending Keynote: Jeanne Dasaro (Co-founder/COO of New Prosperity Initiative)
Topic: Jeanne will be speaking about the importance of building relationships, lessons she has learned about setting and achieving goals after becoming an entrepreneur, how to figure out what we want, taking action and not waiting; celebrating successes and being comfortable in our own skin.

MORNING KEYNOTE - Karen Firestone (CEO & Co-Founder of Aureus Asset Management)
Karen is President, CEO and co-founder of Aureus Asset Management, an investment firm dedicated to providing contemporary asset management to families and individuals. Previously, she spent 22 years at Fidelity Investments, most recently as a diversified fund manager in the Growth Group with oversight of the Large Cap Fund, Advisor Large Cap Fund, Destiny 1 Fund, and several institutional non-profit and pension funds. Prior to that, Karen managed several sector funds, including the Leisure and Entertainment Fund, the Media Fund, Air Transportation Fund, Transportation Fund, Biotechnology Fund, Health Care Fund, and Advisor Health Care Fund. Karen’s Fidelity career began in 1983 as an assistant fund manager to Peter Lynch on Magellan Fund. Later, she moved to an analyst role in the research department covering numerous industries.
Ms. Firestone received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics, magna cum laude, from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is the Chairman of the board of The Commonwealth School. She has served on committees at Harvard University, and is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
MARKETING PANEL - Paige Arnof-Fenn (Founder and CEO of Mavens & Moguls)
Paige Arnof-Fenn is the founder and CEO of Mavens & Moguls, a global
marketing strategy consulting firm whose clients range from early stage
start-up to Fortune 500 companies including Colgate, Virgin and The New
York Times Company. She was formerly VP Marketing at Zipcar and VP
Marketing at Inc.com before the company was sold to Bertelsmann. Prior to
that she held the title of SVP Marketing and was a key member of the IPO
team at Launch Media, an Internet start-up that went public in early 1999
and was later sold to Yahoo.
Arnof-Fenn has also worked as a special assistant to the chief marketing
officer of global marketing at The Coca-Cola Company and held the position
of director of the 1996 Olympic Commemorative Coin Program at the
Department of Treasury, U.S. Mint. Previously Arnof-Fenn worked in brand
management at Procter & Gamble. Arnof-Fenn is a founding Board member of
Women Entrepreneurs in Science & Technology and she is currently serving
as Board Chair of the Alumni Board of Stanford University. She is also
the former Vice President of the Harvard Business School Global Alumni
Board and the current Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Sports Museum
at the Boston Garden. She holds an undergraduate degree in economics from
Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is quoted
regularly in the media, was a monthly columnist for Entrepreneur for
several years, is on the IDC Technology Advisory Council, and a Time
Magazine Opinion Leader.
ENDING KEYNOTE - Jeanne Dasaro (Co-founder of New Prosperity Initiative)
Jeanne Dasaro is a social entrepreneur and activist who is interested in using her skills for social change. She has extensive experience in nonprofit management, event and project planning, new media, and community journalism. She studied Anthropology and Economics at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and is a Co-founder of The New Prosperity Initiative, Founder of Wonder Women of Boston and an artist at Jeans McQueens Creative. She has been featured in Oprah Magazine as one of “Tomorrow’s Leaders” and The Boston Globe as a “Leading Woman” specifically for her social entrepreneurial spirit.
